Andrew Morlan, portrait
Cedar Falls, Iowa
Iowa vs. Michigan, 10/5/19

When Andrew and his twin brother, Isaac, were born, it was discovered that Andrew was in kidney failure. He was rushed to University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital where it was determined that he would need a kidney transplant. After 2 months in the neonatal intensive care unit, Andrew went home on dialysis, and at 14 months old, he received a kidney from his mother.

Several years later, Andrew was diagnosed with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), a rare cancer that develops in transplant patients. After several years of treatment, he’s now in remission. In addition to PTLD, Andrew has had many other health issues, including a rare digestive system disorder and kidney rejection, and is expecting to undergo another kidney transplant soon.

Andrew is planning to enter 10th grade this fall, and enjoys playing video games with his twin brother, and acting.
