Iowa vs. Nebraska, 11/29/19

At 3 years old, Charlotte began experiencing severe leg pain. Tests eventually led to a diagnosis of chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO), an inflammatory bone disease. By that time, Charlotte’s quality of life was very low, and she was referred to the pediatric rheumatology team at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Charlotte’s receives infusions every 3 months, as well as daily medications to help manage her chronic pain. Charlotte was also diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome – a connective tissue disorder – as well as a fever disorder.

Even though Charlotte faces ongoing treatment for her disorders, she continues to be a fighter with a great outlook on life.
