Genetic counselors are skilled communicators, able to adapt counseling strategies for patients of diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. At UI Hospitals & Clinics, I see a wide variety of patients at all stages of the diagnostic process. I often work with interpreters and see families with varying levels of health literacy. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to understand their genetic condition and/or genetic testing options, and deserve support throughout that process.
