Heart and Chest Surgery

Children with congenital and acquired heart and lung diseases and their families benefit from a system of collaborative care by surgeons, cardiologists, critical care specialists, anesthesiologists, and nurses.

Pediatric surgeons at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital are fully trained adult surgeons who have specialized in children’s surgery. By devoting their efforts entirely to kids, they are able to treat the simplest and correctable diseases all the way to major congenital anomalies requiring a lifetime of care and support. UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital’s surgeons represent general and specialty surgical disciplines and have improved the quality of life for countless newborns, children and adolescents.
