Community Clinics

University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital is committed to creating a “system of care” for children, connecting families with specialty services, family resources, community providers, support services, and electronic medical records. Our goal is to collaborate with local providers to improve the health of children and families at home, in school, and in the community.

UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital is pleased to provide pediatric specialty consultations and follow-up care throughout the state. In addition, UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital helps coordinate care for children with chronic diseases with other health care providers and service agencies. These partnerships lead to better health outcomes and lower medical costs.

Children who require additional care, or more urgent consultation, are seen at UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City.

Child Health Specialty Clinics

The vision of Child Health Specialty Clinics (CHSC) is to assure a system of care for Iowa’s children with special health care needs. This statewide service works to improve the health, development, and well-being of children and youth with special health care needs through partnerships with families, service providers, communities, and policy makers. Part of Iowa’s statewide Title V public health system, and operated in collaboration with UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, CHSC serves children from birth through 21 years of age with complicated medical and/or behavioral issues through 14 clinics in communities across Iowa.

Through public health, policy, and advocacy efforts, CHSC works to improve the lives of all Iowa children with special health care needs.
