Our child was diagnosed with hydrocephalus a few days after he was born. We were referred to University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital after a few months because our son’s condition seemed to be getting worse.
The staff was always amazing, from crawling into machines with our baby to offering a laugh, they were always there to put us at ease and be an open ear. I’d like to recognize one employee who helped my husband and I when we were petrified. Our son, Joseph, was little and needed a brain scan. Without hesitation, one of the techs jumped into the machine with my son so someone would be in there with him. I’ll never forget it, and I’d like to say “thank you.”
They aren’t just doctors and nurses and staff there, they really care — they always treated us like we were members of their own families.
