Shirley Johnson, ARNP, MSN, CPNP

Nurse Practitioner
Shirley Johnson, ARNP, MSN, CPNPEvery child deserves the opportunity to meet his or her full potential. As a pediatric nurse practitioner in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, I care for children and adolescents with a range of developmental and behavioral concerns. My philosophy is to maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses. I build rapport with children and families to work together to develop an individualized plan of care including treatment, counseling, education, and advocacy. I returned to University of Iowa Health Care because it is an academic center with integrated clinical practice, education, and research. The professionals at Center for Disabilities and Development provide compassionate, high-quality, evidenced-based practice to children with special health-care needs. My love of children and the resiliency and potential of children inspire me to promote the health and development of children and adolescents. There is no greater reward than to make a difference in the life of a child.
