The pediatric transport program at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital provides rapid transfers for sick or injured babies and kids. Our teams specialize in pediatric medicine and focus on delivering a safe, coordinated transition in care.
Iowa’s only nationally ranked children’s hospital
UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital serves families from every county in Iowa as well as families from many other states. We provide pediatric care in more than 200 medical specialties, and we’re the only children’s hospital in Iowa with these features:
- Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Level I pediatric trauma center
- Level I pediatric surgery center
A safe, efficient, caring link between hospitals
Our specially trained teams are dedicated to pediatric transport exclusively. They provide safe air and ground transportation and are equipped to tailor care to the individual needs of every child they serve.
Teams include physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and emergency medical technicians, all working together to provide:
- One point of contact for referring physicians for critical medical advice, transport logistics, and hospital admission
- Follow-up communication with referring medical facilities to make the transition of care as seamless as possible
By serving as a specialized pediatric mobile intensive care unit, our transport service removes the burden of transport logistics and communication, which means on-site care teams on both ends of the trip can focus exclusively on what’s most important: your child’s health.
