About Michael M. Hummel
The reason I went into to medicine is to combine my love for science with my compassion for helping others. I love the minimally invasive techniques we have to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions in both children and adults. From stopping life threatening hemorrhage, to providing local therapy to treat liver tumors, to shrinking prostate glands, to treating vascular anomalies, and the list goes on. It is a very rewarding experience when I see my patients in follow-up, and they are grateful for the therapy we have provided. I joined the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics to provide best clinical care in my field of interventional radiology. Working with the other medical experts here at the University of Iowa makes that possible. What I like best about working here is the combination of clinical care with medical education, in the setting of a research university. There is a sense of mission here, and I like being part of that mission.
